For wholesalers, couriers, home healthcare and community health teams
Under GDP the supplier stays responsible until the medicine reaches the delivery address, for ambient products as well as fridge lines. For every route you need evidence: data from the journey itself, or a validation sound enough to stand in for it. We monitor vans, trailers and medicine boxes on the same platform as your stores.

What the inspector asks
For wholesale dealers, the GDP guidelines are a condition of the licence, enforced by the MHRA GDP Inspectorate.
Read the guideA risk assessment of delivery routes decides where temperature control is needed. Transport monitoring equipment is calibrated at least once a year, and excursions are reported to the distributor and the recipient.
Read the guideQualified packaging, containers or vehicles for temperature-sensitive products, seasonal mapping of temperature-controlled vehicles, and cool packs that never touch the product.
Read the guideA written contract, an assessment of the contractor's competence and audits. Using a courier moves the work, not the responsibility.
Read the guideValidated medical-grade cool boxes with a max/min thermometer, recorded at the start and end of each session.
Read the guideNo domestic cool boxes, and cool packs usually conditioned at +2 °C to +8 °C, with frozen packs avoided unless the manufacturer recommends them.
Read the guideWhat we monitor
Load-space temperature and doors from Bluetooth sensors, with location from the vehicle tracker, on the same record as the warehouse.
Coldtainer active cold boxes and Medibox medicine transport boxes, tracked door to door with their temperature.
Vehicles used by home healthcare and community teams, with the medicines they carry on the same record as the pharmacy or store.
Where a courier carries your stock in monitored boxes, the journey data comes back to you, ready for the excursion report GDP asks for.

How JTF helps
A tracker on each vehicle, Bluetooth Eye sensors in the load space, and battery trackers for boxes and containers without power. Every reading, excursion and response sits in the same Sematics record as your stores, with each sensor's calibration certificate attached.

SEM-BLE-Eye
Bluetooth temperature, humidity, movement and door sensor.

Hard-wired tracker with inputs for ignition, doors and probes.

GPS tracker that plugs into the OBD II port in seconds.

Battery tracker for trailers, containers and unpowered assets.

Questions
The MHRA's 2016 transport blog calls monitoring every refrigerated delivery best practice, with the data kept and reviewed per consignment. Its 2020 blog adds that where shipments aren't each monitored, "a very robust validation is required with clearly defined limits of validation".
EU GDP 9.2 says at least once a year. Calibration for every sensor we supply: traceable to national standards as standard, or UKAS accredited where you need it (temperature in our own UKAS accredited calibration laboratory No. 10723). The certificate is attached to the sensor in Sematics for your review.
You are. EU GDP chapter 7 asks for a written contract, an assessment of the courier's competence and audits. We recommend the contract also requires the carrier to report any excursion to you within one working day, with the data (our recommendation; GDP sets no deadline).
Yes. Vehicles used by home healthcare and community teams can carry a tracker and Bluetooth sensors, or medicines can travel in tracked medicine boxes.
